“the torch” #24 – The art of reviewing

True wisdom is never cheaply won, nor can it be learned like it was just another skill to acquire with some effort. It seems to be rather more elusive than that and possibly can only be attained by the few who are lucky enough to become so lucid as to allow for this visitation to fall unto them and enable them to be intimately sympathetic with life in all its endless variations. Informed knowledge and professionalism – that’s what most of us have to make do with, and that can be a reasonable undertaking as well. When it comes to passing judgment, more precisely, to review a given work of art, a film in particular, the one who does is subjected to a wide range of requirements and exacting standards, which condition their work and will in turn determine whether or not the task has been mastered. You can delve into this very specific, yet important topic by visiting the latest edition of “The Torch”: here.
